Xu Jie, a female lawyer, has a problem with love and work in the city where she used to stay. Therefore, she comes to Mingtang Law Firm and becomes a trainee, as invited by Li Gongming, the partner of the Law Firm. Her main task is to investigate the bribery case of Chen Wenguang, the other partner of the Law Firm. She also wants to start a new life in a brand new place. Xu Jie is assigned to the Legal Aid Department where jobs are barely lucrative and Chen Ran is her colleague. Chen Ran turns out to be Chen Wenguang's daughter. Since her father was put in prison, Chen Ran has been investigating his case secretly. After Xu Jie comes to the Law Firm, she and Chen Ran get to know each other and become familiar, even though they hold different points of view. After they perfectly solve one case after another, they become bosom friends and trust each other. As the investigation moves forward, Chen Ran finds out the real reason that Xu Jie comes to the Law Firm. Their hard-earned friendship seems to be a plot. Accidents keep happening in the Law Firm, which ties them together tightly. They help each other and work together to investigate the bribery case. In the end, they get to know the truth.
