The Silver Tide

1963 was the first "baby boom" in China. That year, 30 million people were born. Today, this group of baby boomers is about to retire, and the number of elderly people is expected to be more by 2023 than the previous three years combined, and it is expected to enter a severely aged society by 2035.

In this social context, the documentary "Before the Wave" will be aimed at the elderly, through a long period of tracking shooting, record their experience of love and pain, reveal the true picture of the elderly life. We hope to soften and alleviate the public's stereotype of the elderly with vivid character stories, so that the elderly can be treated as a "person," which is the conscience of a civilized society, and also the original intention of the documentary "Before the Wave."

We focus on the emotional, psychological, physiological, social situation of the elderly and other aspects of the "elderly" to carry out more dimensions of discussion, but also return to the essence of people and life to think and formulate ideas. From the previous emphasis on "social stereotypes of the elderly," to no longer satisfied with a single discussion of intergenerational relations; From reflecting on the loneliness of the elderly to trying to find the light in their lives; From simply presenting the chicken feathers brought by aging to Chinese families, to trying to find the truth, goodness and beauty in life; From a single perspective into a complex and diverse comprehensive thinking, so that the idea has a more solid weight, a broader perspective and a fuller meaning. This is not only closer to the truth of human nature, but also restored the documentary's truth-seeking property.
