In July 1937, North China was in a critical condition, and the Japanese Army was preparing to launch an all-out war of aggression against China. A power struggle played out in Heishizhai, Chahar Province. Zhang Songling, a famous scholar, was framed by traitors, and his family got massacred before his wedding. The desperate Zhang resolutely joined the army. Through several hard battles, he greatly improved his military skills and understood clearly his role as a people defender.
