My Marvellous Fable
Feng Tianlan's first task as an intern editor is to urge writer Wang Putao to submit her manuscript. However, to fulfill the condition of writing the book, Wang Putao unexpectedly requests Feng Tianlan to drive her back to her hometown. It turns out that Wang Putao has a deep rift with her father and has been reluctant to return home after years of struggling in Beijing. It is only when she learns that her father is suffering from Alzheimer's disease that Wang Putao is compelled to embark on the journey back home, but she tries to delay the trip by all means possible. Along the way, Wang Putao engages in storytelling while Feng Tianlan takes charge of organizing the manuscript. With his keen insight, Feng Tianlan pieces together Wang Putao's life through the manuscript, portraying different stages of her past, including the attention-seeking rookie in the workplace, the ordinary girl envious of others, and the naive girlfriend who gives her all. These characters reflect Wang Putao's experiences in her life. Through her creative process, Wang Putao revisits her past and reflects on herself. She gradually lets down her guard with Feng Tianlan and reconciles with her past. When Wang Putao reunites with her father in Qionghai, she approaches him with a sincere heart, and with Feng Tianlan's mediation, they break the long-standing barrier between father and daughter. Once again, Wang Putao is embraced by the warmth of family and love.
