The veteran Old Jixiang opera troupe has wandered far and wide, performing far and wide. When a reckless adventure claims the life of Kong Yu, his lover, troupe member Zhuo Ran departs in despair. Years pass before he returns, to save a comrade struck by a rare poison. Leading his old troupe on a hazardous quest for the antidote, Zhuo Ran encounters bizarre perils and uncovers a sinister plot. After a desperate fight, they emerge alive with the cure. With the past laid to rest, Zhuo Ran establishes the New Jixiang troupe, opening a fresh chapter for all.
