39 years old Chen Chia Lin doesn't have a car, an apartment or a husband, and she just lost her job. Born in southern Taiwan during Taiwan's economic takeoff, Chen was raised by her parents and grandparents to be a straight-A student and respectable lady. But Chen knew in her heart that her dreams would not blossom in her hometown, and after a rebellion in the family, she left home to study in Taipei.
