Kisah ini berlaku ketika dunia terbahagi kepada tiga kerajaan. Puteri Jiang Taohua dari Zhao, yang bercita-cita tinggi, cuba melarikan diri daripada kawalan Maharani Lü dengan mengatur perkahwinan politik dengan Kerajaan Wei.
