Perebutan kuasa berlaku di Heishizhai, Wilayah Chahar. Zhang Songling, seorang ulama terkenal, telah dibingkai oleh pengkhianat, dan keluarganya dibunuh beramai-ramai sebelum perkahwinannya. Zhang yang terdesak dengan tegas menyertai tentera.
